Family Lifestyle Session

The moments in between, trust me, that's what you'll want to remember. Years from now, you'll want to remember her whimsy, his unwillingness to sit still, and every bit of "imperfection."

When you try to create something that's perfect, I believe it comes at a cost. Perfection often strips away the silliness, the genuineness, and the isms. This is especially true for families with young kids.

Creating that perfect family portrait is not my goal. My goal is to capture connection, authentic laughter, and turn those moments where you think everything is falling apart into your favorite ones.

I like to start my sessions with very low pressure photos. I'll have your family interact and connect while doing something simple, like throwing rocks in the water, playing in the sand, enjoying nearby flowers, walking through a field. This helps everyone loosen up and little ones warm up to me.

Lifestyle photos involve some directing and prompting, but it nothing is forced. The emphasis is not on perfect positioning, eyes to the camera, or smiling on cue.

If relaxed, unforced family photos is music to your ears, we'll likely be a great match! Head here to reach out and begin the booking process.

What I Learned from Being in front of the Camera

It can feel WEIRD to be in front of the camera—yes, even for a photographer! Here are a few things that I learned from my hour in the on the other side.

What to Wear to a Family Photo Shoot

The most important thing to remember when it deciding what to wear is keep it simple. Avoid distracting accessories and crazy patterns. Stick with colors that go well together. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, start with Mom’s outfit and build on that.
